EXCLUSIVE: RLJE Films has acquired the rights in North America Latest Views, an action comedy starring Charlie Hunnam and Mel Gibson. Morena Baccarin, Rupert Friend, Dominic Monaghan, Lucy Fry and Cliff “Method Man” Smith also star in the film, directed by Tim Kirkby (Brockmire) and with the original title Waldo after starring in Howard Michael Gould’s Los Angeles-based detective novel series.
RLJE Films is planning a day and release date in February in cinemas and VOD.
Gould Adaptation (Mr. 3000) and took its name from the first book in its series of three books, Latest Views presents on the big screen Charlie Waldo (Hunnam), a former LAPD superstar who left power and now lives a life of simplicity and loneliness deep in the woods. Alistair Pinch (Gibson) is an eccentric actor who spends his days drunk shooting his TV show. When Pinch’s wife is found dead, he is the prime suspect and Waldo is persuaded to retire to investigate what happened.
The case finds Waldo battling gangsters, Hollywood executives and preschoolers, all seeking to clear Pinch’s name or confirm his guilt.

RLJE Films Chief Acquisitions Officer Mark Ward negotiated the deal with Romulus’ Feinstein on behalf of the filmmakers.
