The announcement of a fourth film in the franchise surprised many, including the protagonist Pine. But as he tells IndieWire, he is ready to go back to work.

It turns out that there are still some surprises in Hollywood. In mid-February, blockbuster JJ Abrams announced during Paramount Investor Day that a fourth “Star Trek” movie with the original cast would begin production soon, with the release date set for December 22, 2023. news for many people, including current franchise James T. But Pine’s surprise does not mean that he is not excited about the prospect of returning to the franchise. In fact, he is already a big fan of the film’s director, Matt Sackman. “I met Matt Shakman, the director,” Pine said. “He’s a super cool guy, very smart, I like him very much.”

The franchise’s latest film, Justin Lin’s “Star Trek Beyond”, was released in 2016, following Abrams’ “Star Trek” in 2009 and “Star Trek Into Darkness” in 2013.
