In a recent profile run by GQ (per IGN), Elijah Wood admits to surprise at the new announcement Lord of the Rings movie theater. And while he acknowledges that the main goal is to make money, he hopes that the studios will be able to maintain that sense of reverence for Tolkien’s creation, as Peter Jackson did.
“It came out of a passion for these books and a desire to see them come to life,” he said of Jackson’s trilogy, where he played Frodo Baggins. “And hopefully that’s ultimately what drives everything forward with whatever these next movies are. I just hope it’s the same motivational factor at its core.”
