Brahmastra, which introduced us to the Astraverse and taught us about the power of love and light, and their fight against darkness, is set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, viewers can now experience and relive the film in a choice of their preferred language from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Releasing on November 4, 2022, the magnum opus is produced by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Ayan Mukerji & Prime Focus and directed and written by Ayan Mukerji.
Director Ayan Mukerji explains his vision behind Brahmāstra: Part One–Shiva; says, “It has its roots in our ancient Indian history and culture”
Explaining the origins of the film, director Ayan Mukerji said, “The film is rooted in our ancient Indian history and culture, which itself played a large role in what ultimately inspired the story and vision of Bramstra. The film introduces us to this concept of Ancient Indian Astras in modern India, which is a unique idea – one that has yet to be explored in filmmaking or storytelling. It was exciting to be able to step into that world because it allowed for a larger-than-life presentation, big graphics and technology that would be new and exciting for our audience.”
He also added, “There are many elements that have shaped the film that audiences have seen or will watch for the first time. The film at its core is a love story – which was important for me to remember and come back to, because it grounds the narrative. Also, like all my films, the music ultimately played a big part in tying everything together – it provided the visuals and is the soul of the film.”
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt playing the lead roles in this fantasy adventure drama, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni. The film also has Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in cameo appearances. While the film will be released on November 4, it hit the big screens on September 9.
