A coming-of-age sports comedy following a teenager and his passion for basketball premieres on Disney+ as part of the March 6-12 schedule.
On Friday, March 10, the streaming service (sign up for Disney+ here) will add Chang Can Dunk in its available content. Jingyi Shao wrote and directed the upcoming film in his feature directorial debut. The film stars Bloom Li, Dexter Darden, Ben Wang, Zoe Renee, Chase Liefeld and Mardy Ma. The film is produced by Rishi Rajani, Lena Waithe and Brad Weston, with Pamela Thur serving as executive producer.
“It follows Chang, a 16-year-old Asian American high school student in the band, who bets the school’s basketball star that he can dive all the way to Homecoming,” the synopsis reads. “The gamble leads the 5′ 8″ Chang on a quest to find the hops he needs to dive to impress his crush, Kristy, and ultimately gain the attention and respect of his high school classmates. But before he can stand up and really throw one down, he’ll have to reevaluate everything he knows about himself, his friendships, and his family.”
