Disney’s holiday ad takes inspiration from the upcoming movie ‘Wish’ as it takes viewers on a global adventure full of families enjoying the holiday season together.
“May your wishes come true” was created by Disney’s in-house store Yellow Shoes in partnership with Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
The 90-second spot features the song A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes from Disney’s Cinderella.
The film singalong is sung in six languages from various locations around the world.
Singer Ariana DeBose lends her voice to the English verse, which opens the film as two children sing and dance around their living room.
The camera moves from scene to scene as different voices, languages and families join in song.
The film was an international production in the US, UK and South Africa and was directed by Nigerian/British director and director Meji Alabi.
“I feel fortunate to have worked with such a diverse group of people on Disney’s holiday campaign this year. There were so many moments that stood out for me during filming, but I think the most memorable was watching the South African children’s choir sing their lines. It really gave me chills.” Alabi said.
Disney’s ‘Wish Together’ Campaign celebrates its long-standing relationship with Make-A-Wish as well as the launch of the Wish brand animated film.
The festive campaign is based on Disney’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
It will run on linear TV, YouTube and social media. Media planning and buying is handled in-house and by Publicis Imagine, a specialty division of Publicis Media serving Disney+, Disney Parks, Experiences and Resorts and ESPN/ESPN+.
Joss Hastings, Disney’s vice president of global marketing for consumer products, toys and publishing, said: “Holiday traditions may look different around the world, but no matter where you celebrate, we all share the desire to be with the ones we love . this special time of year.”
Last Christmas Disney celebrated storytelling that brought families together in a series of three-minute animated shorts.
