Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani movie, Dunki, is trending average at the box office in India. As per early estimates, the social drama has grossed in the range of Rs. 25.75 crores to Rs. 26.75 crores on the third day, taking the weekend collection to Rs. 75 crores. The film has grown 30 percent over Friday's figure of Rs. 20.15 crores.
Ideally, a social drama aimed at the multiplexes should have shown a bigger jump in the number and this trend has taken away its hopes Dunki reaching a large number. However, with the holiday season just around the corner, it is well on its way to becoming a successful venture at the box office.
Dunki it should have aimed to be close to the opening day figure of Rs. 29 crores on Saturday followed by Rs. 35 crores on Sunday. But it looks like Rs. 30 crore on Sunday, taking an extended 4-day total to Rs. 110 crores. The film will then take advantage of the Christmas break on Monday and the real test will be on Tuesday.
A good hold on collections from Tuesday to Friday is essential Dunki to enter Rs. 200 crore club and a double digit Tuesday would be the first indication of the film's journey towards the no. The film continues to do business in the multiplexes, however, the mass zones are not at their maximum and the competition with Salar it just makes things difficult.
