In recent weeks, Baz Luhrmann has been posting photos of Elvis Presley as part of his “Elvis Mondays” ahead of the release of his biopic The King. Now, after months of waiting, the director of Moulin Rouge has shared a proper teaser. He wrote in his Stories on Instagram: “Hello good people, you will not believe what I found in my bottom drawer. Something you have been asking for a long time. Let’s just say… it’s time to become a real TCB. Attention, it will be on my new TikTok for the next 24 hours. I invite you to be the first in the world to see it. “
Going to Baz’s brand new page on TikTok, the director shared an experiment from the Elvis movie trailer. The 59-year-old wrote in the caption of the post: “Hello, it’s time for TCB! I will have a trailer to share with you on Thursday… ”
The brief experiment begins with Austin Butler’s view of the star being approached by his manager, Col. Tom Parker, at a carnival.
Next, we see the King playing on stage in the 1950s as screaming girls approach him, before a clip of the 1968 Comeback Special reenactment.
The shot ended with Elvis in one of his iconic uniforms, playing in one of his Las Vegas residences in the 1970s.
Along with Butler and Hanks in the Warner Bros. blockbuster is Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley, the only woman Elvis ever married.
The King’s parents, Vernon and Gladys, will play Richard Roxburgh and Ellen Thompson.
Returning to Baz’s hometown of Australia, the production consulted Graceland for precision in remodeling the King’s home as shown in the film.
Elvis is coming out in theaters on June 24, 2022.
