Making franchise films is a big focus for every major studio. Giving audiences characters they’re familiar with is proven to be successful, but one of the difficulties that comes with that is knowing when it’s time to end a franchise. The manager of the youngest Consumables The film is far from certain that this will be the end for Sylvester Stallone and company, and uses another major action franchise, John Wickas an example.
Considering it took quite some time to Expend4bles to take off, fans of the franchise probably thought the series was over with Consumables 3. And yet, the fourth film was finally made. It would be easy to assume that this will be the end of the series, but Expend4bles says director Scott Waugh THR that no franchise is ever really made if the fans and the studio want more. Just look at his current status John Wick privilege. He explained…
Waugh certainly has a point. John Wick: Chapter 4His ending would seemingly bring a clear end to the franchise, and yet, things don’t seem so cut and dry. Lionsgate has been buzzing about John Wick: Chapter 5 it’s finally happening, and while it’s not clear that it will, the fact that the new film had the best box-office return in the series certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.
Of course, this is exactly why we have to ask if Expend4bles it’s the end, even if it wasn’t specifically designed. Expend4bles it did not have the biggest box office opening. In fact, it was the worst the franchise has seen, which seems to indicate that audiences aren’t all that interested in a fifth film, and so the studio will surely care less as well.
Of course, the complication that potentially comes when a franchise meets its end at the box office is that it can lead to an unsatisfying ending to the story. If the franchise didn’t know it was over until the box office struggled, the story might have been left on a cliffhanger or some other place where it doesn’t seem right for things to end.
Whether we see others John Wick movies or other Consumables movies is impossible to guess right now. Sequels and franchise reboots usually happen years after a series has seemingly run its course, so only time will tell.
