Film exhibitor Manoj Desai asks professional actors to stay out of politics. talks about the Bollywood boycott trend
When asked to shed some light on the reason behind the failure of Hindi films, Manoj asserted, “First of all – it’s the content of the film.” Later, he added that a professional actor should understand his work and stick to it instead of aching for screen time in the film. As the discussion progressed, Desai also pointed out that actors’ controversial statements also affect a film’s BO performance.
While referring to Aamir Khan’s intolerance remark, he added that it contributed to his failure Laal Singh Chadha. Meanwhile, he also discussed the failure of starrer Akshay Kumar Raksha Bandan as he reported that the audience was not satisfied with the content. Here too, Manoj firmly said that the film failed due to some controversial statements of Khiladi Kumar.
As he expressed his frustration, he said, “Koi bhi artist ko politics nahi khelna chahiye. They should keep [themselves] away from politics. He then clarified, “You are [an] artist. You are a good actor. Bring emotion to your acting. Bring action to your acting. And, you will see how the audience will appreciate you.”
