People are going to get really excited.
In a recent red carpet interview discussing how much he loves Canada, star Pedro Pascal let slip that his cast The last of us he would return there to film the show’s second season.
The first season of the popular HBO television series was filmed in and around Calgary, but Pascal’s experiment had people wondering if the show would set up shop elsewhere in Canada.
The series is based on a hit video game of the same name, and a significant portion of Part II takes place in the Pacific Northwest, so it wasn’t too much of a stretch to hope that the series could come to Vancouver.
Well, fans of the series in Vancouver can officially rejoice because Deadline just confirmed that The last of us indeed we will shoot the second season in our beautiful city.
Metro Vancouver and possibly the surrounding Lower Mainland will be transformed into a post-apocalyptic world after a global pandemic destroys civilization (kind of on the nose).
Pascal plays a hardened survivor tasked with protecting 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey) who may be humanity’s last hope.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome The last of us to our city as they bring their next season of production to Hollywood North,” Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said in a statement Friday.
“The last of us is one of the biggest productions ever filmed in Canada and one of the biggest television series today,” the mayor continued, adding, “The choice to move filming to Vancouver is a testament to our city’s continued strength in film and television . “
