Four streaming platforms from Central and Eastern Europe have joined forces to bring European cinema to their audiences through a service called CEEYou.
New Horizons VOD (Poland), KVIFF.TV (Czech Republic and Slovakia), Cinego (Hungary) and TIFF Unlimited (Romania) have launched the service with films from directors such as Michael Haneke, Agnès Varda, Eric Rohmer and Olivier Assayas. CEEYou will be available on each of the existing platforms.
“The creation of the CEEYou network gives us the opportunity to expand our offer and promote our content through cross-border advertising campaigns,” the platforms said. “These collective efforts will allow the network to grow and become stronger, both regionally and internationally.”
Each platform will adjust how and when to stream the movies individually. For example, New Horizons VOD premieres with all of the titles slated for the network this year, having launched on October 13th.
This initial line-up ranges from retrospectives by Agnès Varda and Michael Haneke through films by Olivier Assayas and Claire Denis to George Lanthimos Dog tooth and Nicolas Philibert’s documentary To be and to have.
Meanwhile, the network’s other partners – KVIFF.TV, Cinego and TIFF Unlimited – will release the films in batches, starting with the Varda and Haneke collections.
Over the next two years, the network, which has received funding from the European Union’s Creative Media Programme, will include more retrospectives of works by European directors as well as specialist, local films from the four partner regions.
