Find out how CBM readers rated WB’s latest DC Comics movie

Blue beetle opened in theaters last Friday and didn’t do well at the box office. After a week of release, Warner Bros.’ The latest DC Comics movie just crossed $60 million worldwide.

Despite generally positive reviews (the Rotten Tomatoes score has risen to 78%), the general public doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in Jaime Reyes’ first appearance on the big screen.

Whether this is because the character is relatively obscure, “superhero fatigue” or the perception that the DC brand has been severely damaged by a string of lackluster films is up for debate, but Blue beetle he’s got proved quite popular in the CBM community.

Our results recent poll is in and with a total of 767 votes, 31% of you felt the movie was “very good”. The most positive choice, ‘excellent’, was next with 21% of the vote, followed by ‘good’ with 20%, ‘watchable’ with 16% and ‘terrible’ with 12%.

Word of mouth has the potential to change things Blue beetle As it enters its second week in theaters, but even with a modest budget of $120 million, all signs point to another failure for the studio. Reyes is expected to stick around in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU, but a direct sequel is highly unlikely.

The cast also includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar and Raoul Max Trujillo.

Blue beetle is now in theaters.
