The first images have been released from Paolo Sorrentino’s new film set in Naples, which is still untitled. Scroll down to see the stunning first shots from the production, which are a mix of stills and behind-the-scenes footage.
As previously announced, the film revolves around a character called Partenope, who, in Sorrentino’s own words, is named after her city, but is neither a siren nor a mythical figure associated with the creation of Naples.
The film traces the journey of Partenope from her birth in 1950 to the present day, accompanied by many other characters, against the backdrop of Sorrentino’s hometown of Naples, with her ability to charm and cause mischief.
Starring Gary Oldman, Celeste Dalla Porta, Silvia Degrandi, Isabella Ferrari, Lorenzo Gleijeses, Peppe Lanzetta, Silvio Orlando, Luisa Ranieri, Stefania Sandrelli, Alfonso Santagata, Nello Mascia and Biagio Izzo.
The film follows Sorrentino’s deeply personal drama, which was nominated for an Oscar in 2021 Hand of God and is his tenth feature in a filmography that also includes the 2014 Academy Award winner The Great Beauty.
Shot between Naples and the island of Capri, the film is an Italian-French co-production, written and directed by Sorrentino.
It is a Fremantle film produced by Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment Pictures, a Fremantle Company. Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, Paolo Sorrentino for Numero 10 and Ardavan Safaee for Pathé. Douglas Urbanski is the executive producer. Sales are handled by UTA and Fremantle.
