For almost a decade, FKA twigs has shown her talents as a singer, songwriter, producer, actress and dancer – both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other people. With her latest single, “Measure of a Man”, she enters the role of film composer.
“Measure of a Man” includes West London rapper Central Cee, who released his mixtape debut Wild West earlier this year. The song is part of the soundtrack for the upcoming spy movie The King Man, in cinemas on December 22nd. The film itself is the third most popular Kingsman movie series (based on Marvel comic book titles) and serves as a prequel to the previous Kingsmen movie theater The Secret Service and The Golden Circle. In “Measure of a Man”, the twigs share titles with the series’ director Matthew Vaughn.
“Measure of a Man” comes before the next work of the twigs, which was first revealed by the singer herself: twigs jumped on the official Discord server of FKA twigs in September 2021 to share details about the album. Although he did not share a title or release date, he confirmed that it will be a mixtape and will include production by Arca, El Guincho, Koreless, Cirkut and hip-hop producer Mike Dean. It also touched on a collaboration with Swedish rapper Yung Lean on Instagram.
Since the release of her second LP Magdalene in 2019, FKA twigs spent much of the pandemic working on new music and teasing much of it along the way. He made occasional appearances, including a surprise performance during Dua Lipa’s virtual concert at Studio 2054, where the two teased a collaboration entitled “Why Don’t You Love Me”.
Twigs released “Don’t Judge Me”, their first single since MagdaleneReleased two years ago, in early 2021. The song itself is an extended version of the Headie One and Fred Again track “Judge Me”. “Measure of a Man” was created for King’s Man soundtrack, but its status in relation to her upcoming work remains unknown.
