Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is the talk of the town– Literally. On Sunday, the director shared the news that the stop-motion film is the most-streamed film of the weekend. Del Toro took to his Twitter account to share a screenshot of the movie ratings from FlixPatrol, a website that tracks the rankings of movies and shows available for streaming. “The #1 Netflix movie in the world,” tweeted the Oscar-winning director.
According to the ranking, Pinocchio drives other whole Netflix likes Giant, Lady Chatterly’s loverand God’s Crooked Lines. The site says its ranking is determined by trending lists from each respective streaming service. In the top 10 movies on Netflix, however, Pinocchio he is fourth in service back Bullet Train, Imprisonedand Emily the Criminal.

The film has received rave reviews from critics and moviegoers alikeincluding Doctor Strange alloy Scott Derrickson.

It will be paired every year with FANTASTIC MR. FOX. A real treat,” Derrickson’s longtime collaborator and author S. Robert Cargill, added.
Pinocchio is del Toro’s first animated feature and stars Ewan McGregor as Sebastian J. Cricket, the cricket who lives in Pinocchio’s wooden heart and serves as the film’s narrator. Del Toro is working with the Jim Henson Company and ShadowMachine on the stop-motion animation of Carlo Collodi’s novel, which follows a puppet boy who comes to life. With McGregor, the voice cast also includes David Bradley as Geppetto, Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson and Burn Gorman, with Christoph Waltz and Tilda Swinton.
