“It is already a brutal mistake with human lives and broken hearts, and if he does not back down, I believe Putin will have made the most horrible mistake of all humanity,” Penn told the Post. “President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people have emerged as historical symbols of courage and authority. Ukraine is the spearhead for the democratic embrace of dreams. “If we allow him to fight alone, our soul as America is lost.”

Penn met with Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials earlier in the week and has attended press briefings as he worked on the document. Vice Studios told the Post that it was working with the Oscar winner, who made his first trip to Ukraine in November.

Over the years, Penn has worked on a documentary about assassination of journalist Jamal Kasogi and the pharmacist El Tsapo.
