Director James Cameron’s 2009 Oscar-winning adventure epic Avatar, the most successful film of all time, returns to theaters on September 23rd in stunning 4K High Dynamic Range. The long-awaited sequel Avatar: The Way of Water will release on December 16, 2022. Before the release of the sequel, the makers will re-release the film in theatres.

The film will reportedly have a limited run of two weeks in theaters. Other than that, it has been removed from Disney+ and it is unclear when it will return to the platform. Ahead of the re-release, a new trailer was released on Tuesday.

Written and directed by Academy Award winner James Cameron, “Avatar” stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver. The film was produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau. Nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, the film won three Academy Awards®, Best Cinematography, Production Design and Visual Effects.

20th Century Studios India will re-release Avatar in English in India on September 23, 2022.
