Former EIC and CCO of Marvel Comics, Joe Quesada, is to give Fly, the short film he wrote and directed, has its world premiere at the Utah Film Festival in a few weeks. He tweets “Hey everyone, here’s the start of 2023, exclusive update, out of left field. I’m proud to announce that my short film FLY, or as I like to call it, The World’s Most Expensive Home Movie,” has just been selected for screening at the Utah Film Festival.
The eighteen-minute film is produced by his wife and a former Marvel editor Nancy Quesadaand will star Carly Quesadatheir daughter. Fly described like this; “Seventeen-year-old Maria Carbonell loves making up stories with extraordinary characters, surprising adventures, and unimaginable worlds. Her latest story may be the most unexpected yet… hers.”
adds Joe Quesada “FLY will be screened along with many other films Friday, January 6 at 5:00 p.m. at Towne Hub, 120 W Main St, American Fork, UT. There’s a panel I’ll be attending right after” also adding “The UFF Audience Choice Awards are open. Carlie Quesada also writes “This has been a project my father has dreamed of for years. Additionally, Fly actors are also involved Scott Irvine, Kenley Bozzuto, Emily Todd, and Angela Wangwith Benjamin Garst as Editor. Benjamin Garst was supervising producer and series DP on the documentary series, Marvel’s Storyboards.
Aside from his editorial work at Marvel Comics, Joe Quesada is best known creatively for drawing Batman, Daredevil and Spiderman comics, as well as the creation of the character Ash, and was behind the launch of Marvel Knights, MAX and the Ultimate series.
