Karishma Tanna she recently opened up about how she became depressed after not being able to find work for almost a year after her small role Rajkumar Hirani‘small Sanju. In a new interview, Karishma said that she feels disappointed and humiliated as filmmakers were not ready to cast her in films citing that she was a TV actress.
Questioning the concept of a ‘fresh face’, Karishma revealed that she has heard things like ‘You are too tall’ and ‘Your face is too exposed after working on TV’ during her film auditions. He said a lot of people like to go with the herd mentality like, “if she’s a TV actress, let’s not cast her, let’s cast a new face.” Karishma felt humiliated every time she was told that she cannot get the role because she is a TV actress.
Talking about the rejections, Karishma said she can’t understand why people try to put actors in a category. Although it feels like things are changing, there is still a struggle for a TV actor to find work in films.

She then went on to list things she heard from producers while being rejected for film roles. They told her she was too tall, they saw her on TV every day, she was too glamorous for the part, so they can’t take her. He added that when directors don’t want to call you, they can give you many reasons.
On the work front, Karishma will now feature Hansal Mehtaupcoming movie Ladle. He also stars Ishita Arunwho is the daughter of veteran actor and singer Ila Arun.
