The first trailer for Kit Harington’s new horror film The monster within has been revealed.
The upcoming film centers on 10-year-old Willow (Caoilinn Springall), who follows her parents into the middle of an ancient forest during one of their secret late-night walks after a series of strange events make her question their isolated life in English wilds (via Entertainment Weekly).
The official synopsis continues: “But after witnessing her father (Harington) undergo a terrible transformation, she too becomes trapped by the dark ancestral secret they tried so desperately to hide.”

The trailer opens with Harington’s character declaring himself king of the forest and his daughter a princess, though the literalness of his statement soon becomes clear after Willow sees him transform into a deadly werewolf during a full moon.
Although Willow’s mother (Ashleigh Cummings) worries for her safety as her husband’s rage becomes increasingly difficult to control, the end of the trailer reveals that Willow is after her father in more ways than one.
The monster withinwhich is directed by Alexander J Farrell, also stars James Cosmo, Miriam Arabella Maslin and Adam Basil.

In other news, Harington is set to begin his run in the West End production Slave Play next week.
The Game of Thrones The actor will star in the new production, which runs from June 29 to September 21 at London’s Noel Coward Theatre, alongside I am a virginOlivia Washington, BrassicaAaron Heffernan, HeartstopperFisayo Akinade, James Cusati-Moyer, Chalia La Tour, Annie McNamara and Irene Sofia Lucio.
Harington is also set to reunite with his Game of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner for the upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadfulwhich will see Harington’s character change Turner’s life forever “in unexpected ways.”
The monster within is scheduled to hit US theaters on July 26. A UK release has yet to be announced.
