Actor Avinash Tiwary has once again been praised by critics as well as audiences for his performance in Neeraj Pandey’s directorial Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, an original Netflix web show. Although the actor made his debut in 2014, it was Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu, which made him popular. However, the film performed poorly at the box office. Talking about the same, Avinash discussed the fate of the film.
“Laila Majnu will stay with me till I die,” says Avinash Tiwary. opens up about his poor performance
In an interview to DNA, Tiwary claimed, “I don’t understand why the film didn’t do well at the box office, there could be innumerable reasons. I believe that if a good film failed, it was because we could not promote or publicize the film well. I don’t think I was able to build the audience’s interest in it, in me, that they could come and see me. But Imtiaz (Ali) sir told me that if a film is good it will find its audience.”
Explaining the same, he added, “A film is for life. I feel this Laila Majnu finds its audience. Even after four years of release, the film is still relevant. People were watching me Bulbuland then they saw Laila Majnu.”
He concluded by saying: “I hope the people who watched me at Khakee will come back and see Laila Majnu. I feel that whatever I have been offered, it is only because of the credibility I have gained due to Laila Majnu. This movie will stay with me until I die.”
Talking about Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, the seven-episode series started streaming on Netflix on November 25. In the web show, Avinash was seen playing the antagonist opposite Karan Tacker, who portrayed an eponymous character of a police officer.
