In a recent announcement made, it was revealed that the money won will be given to underprivileged children. The announcement said, “On the occasion of Superstar Mahesh Babu’s birthday, special shows of his film Pokiri are scheduled worldwide on August 9 in the biggest possible way. From the announcement till date, the response has been phenomenal as tickets sold out within minutes for special shows. With such an outpouring of love from all over, our super fans and beloved distributors decided to donate the entire amount Pokiri special shows to help Children’s Heart Operations and Education for underprivileged children through the MB Foundation.
The statement added: “We are very proud to announce this initiative and express our deepest gratitude to our fans and distributors for their support. We would certainly look forward to doing many such noble projects soon in the best possible way, following the footsteps of our hero Superstar Mahesh Babu – Like Heroes Like Fans”.
Talking about Pokiri, the Telugu film was directed by Puri Jagannadh and featured Ileana D’Cruz in the lead role. The film was released in 2006 and was later remade in Salman Khan starrer Ayesha Thakia Wanted in 2008.
