Martin Scorsese is fast approaching his 81st birthday, but he doesn’t seem to have any intention of slowing down his filmmaking anytime soon. Not only is it “Killers of the Flower Moon” is set to arrive in October, but he’s already figuring out what he’d like to do next. And yes, the Jesus movie he teased a while back is in the running.

Talking to you year, Martin Scorsese teased some of the projects he’s considering for possible direction next. One of these projects is its adaptation Marilynne Robinson’s novel, “Home.” This is a project that has been on his radar for the better part of a decade now. Not only that, but he is still brainstorming ideas for another movie about Jesus Christ, this is something he was inspired to do after meeting him Priest Francis earlier this year.
“I don’t know what it will be, exactly. I don’t know how you would say it. It wouldn’t be a straight narrative,” Scorsese said of the possible Jesus project. “But there would be stage sets. And I would be in.”

Although these are very vague words, it really sounds like the possible Jesus Christ movie would be an interesting artistic exercise for the legendary director. And after decades of making incredible movies, he’s certainly earned the right to really experiment on a whim.
Whatever Scorsese wants to do next, there likely won’t be a shortage of studios willing to foot the bill. Although “Killers of the Flower Moon” took a bit of a journey to finally find its home, the film landed a huge budget (something Scorsese isn’t afraid to ask for) and an early release date. Now, after a huge Cannes debut, it looks like “Flower Moon” is primed for a big awards season later this year.
And if Scorsese manages to win more trophies this year, you better believe studios will be lining up to work with him on something else, even if it’s an experimental Jesus movie.
