Fans and critics are tearing apart Netflix’s latest blockbuster Activation warning.
The film, which landed on Netflix on Friday (June 21), went straight to No.1 on the streamer’s top 10 movies in the UK list.
Activation warning It stars Jessica Alba as Parker, a US Special Forces commando stationed overseas who is forced to return home when her father is killed.
Parker takes over the family bar in her hometown, where she finds herself caught up in a violent conspiracy as she investigates the circumstances surrounding her father’s mysterious death.
Activation warning it’s currently the number one film in the UK on Netflix, ahead of Jodie Comer’s thriller-drama The end from which we begin and 24 hours at Lidl – a behind-the-scenes documentary about the supermarket chain.
Despite winning the coveted first place, however, Activation warning is receiving dismal reviews from all quarters, with critics and subscribers criticizing the action.
As observed by Screenrantthe movie continues Alba’s enviable Rotten Tomatoes streak of late. The actor, best known for films like Honey (2003) and The fantastic four (2005). Stretch. The 2015 comedy, in which he starred opposite Chris Pine and Patrick Wilson, was generally well received.
Three of Alba’s films in the last 10 years – Barely fatal, Something Beautifuland Killers Anonymous – have accumulated Rotten Tomato scores below 30%. The latter garnered a 0 percent critic rating based on nine reviews and a 16 percent audience rating based on over 100 ratings.
Unfortunately, TriggerWarning will do little to solve the problem with Alba’s latest film scoring just 25 percent based on 20 reviews. It achieved an even lower audience score of 19 percent.
Writing on X/Twitter, a Netflix subscriber said:Activation warning it’s one of the most boring movies I’ve seen all year, but it’s also the dumbest! A movie seemingly made to justify Netflix’s ability to watch things at 1.5x speed.”

Another criticized the film’s script, calling it “one of the worst scripts ever [writing[ in a while”.
“I watched Trigger Warning on Netflix last night,” said a third person. “I’m a fan of Jessica Alba but that movie is really bad.”
“Top 5 worst movie [sic] never,” agreed another. “Absolute waste of time. This is a review.” Meanwhile, others praised Alba’s acting and action sequences while still mocking the film’s plot and script.
Some critics were less harsh than others, however The guardian awarding the film three stars in a review titled: “Jessica Alba returns with a solid Netflix action vehicle.”
