Nandita Das’s Cinema Zwigato starring Kapil Sharma, aims to shed light on the role of deliveryman Manas. Kapil will play a man who lost his job as a factory manager and now works as a delivery boy to support himself. Zwigato starring Kapil Sharma is Nandita’s third directorial venture.
In an interview with Indian Express, Nandita shared her experience of working with Kapil Shama for Zwigato. He said, “Kapil is actually a simple man and comes from a humble background. I had many interactions and rehearsals that convinced me that he would perfectly represent the common man who is no longer in real life.”
He further added, “He said that playing an ‘ordinary’ man reminded him of his growing up years and his struggling days. And since he is still very rooted, the character of Manas was no stranger to him. He got into the character quite effortlessly. He was also committed to the process and we had a very good working relationship.”
When asked if Kapil was ever late on the sets of the film, he replied, “Yes, I had also heard many stories of Kapil being late. In all honesty, it was sometimes. But his disarming and childish apologies often melted away my annoyance as I’m a bit of a stickler for time. Plus, once he’s on set, he’s completely absorbed and engaged in the process, and never really rushes back. I think it was out of his comfort zone to get out of the studio and into an outdoor location. But I think he enjoyed the experience.”
Kapil Sharma had earlier done two films viz. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon in 2015 and Cannon in 2017. It follows ZwigatoHaving its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the film was also screened at the 2022 Busan International Film Festival.
