Netflix Inc. got the right to stream the new one Johnny Depp film’La Favorite“, according to his recent report Bloomberg.
The French film is about to start shooting France this summer and Netflix now has the streaming rights to La Favorite 15 months after its theatrical release.
This project marks Depp’s return to the big screen in his first role since winning a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Depp, 59, has said in the past on several occasions that he feels betrayed Hollywood studio and confirms this attitude with his latest work.
In the film, Depp will play King Louis XVpredecessor to the reign of Louis XVI which led to the French Revolution.
La Favorite release date
La Favorite, directed by Mawenn Le Bescowill be released to French audiences in theaters sometime during 2023.
Le Besco will also play Madame du Barrythe infamous mistress of King Louis VX.
The film is set to be Depp’s big return to Depp, who hasn’t appeared in a film since 2020.
This will be Depp’s first full-length film in French, a language he became fully familiar with while living in France with his ex-partner. Vanessa Paradis.
Netflix promised to invest $40.7 million in French films of 2022, starting with Depp’s new film.
