The beloved Star Trek franchise returns as part of it Paramount Plus program June 12-18
Starting Thursday, June 15, Paramount Plus subscribers can watch the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. New episodes will follow every Thursday until the Season 2 finale on August 17, 2023. Created by Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, the Star Trek: Discovery spin-off follows the final adventures of Captain Pike (Anson Mount ) and the crew of the USS Enterprise. Strange New Worlds features the return of many beloved Star Trek characters, including Spock, portrayed here by Ethan Peck. Starring Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Bruce Horak and Rebecca Romijn.
Interestingly, Season 2 will feature a major crossover event between Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks, as announced during the Star Trek panel at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While Lower Decks is an animated series, the upcoming crossover will see Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid portray the live-action version of their characters, Ensign Beckett Mariner and Ensign Brad Boimler, respectively.
On the same day, the streamer will also add the Blumhouse TV production Horror movie There’s Something Wrong With The Children. The film directed by Roxanne Benjamin stars Alisha Wainwright, Zach Gilford, Amanda Crew, Carlos Santos and others. TJ Cimfel and Dave White wrote the screenplay.
“When Margaret and Ben take a weekend trip with longtime friends Ellie and Thomas and their two young children, Ben begins to suspect something supernatural is afoot when the children act strangely after disappearing into the woods overnight.” says the film’s synopsis.
