The DC Comics world has inspired a wide range of film and television adaptations over the years – including a number that have not been completed. He was among them Superman is alive, a live-action film adaptation directed by Tim Burton and starring Nicholas Cage as the Man of Steel. The film was eventually canceled in the pre-production stage, but images of Cage wearing the iconic character costume still appear, sparking a documentary and years of mourning for what it might have been.
While Cage has voiced Superman’s voice in the animated film Teen Titans Go! At The Moviessome fans still want to see Cage play the role in a live-action setting – and according to the actor, it may not be impossible. In a recent interview with GQCage responded to a Reddit post from a fan who asked why Superman is alive can not be done today. As the actor put it, “maybe there is another chance” to get into the role.
“Would it matter how long I was playing the character?” suggested Cage. “There may be another chance.”
This idea will surely surprise the fans of the actor and the character, especially with the upcoming The lightning movie on the horizon. The film has been confirmed to take a trip across the DC live-action multiverse, with Michael Keaton’s Batman and sequel expected to return to the film. It certainly does not seem to be ruled out that some kind of visit to the world of Superman Lives could be part of it, possibly with Cage repeating his role directly.
“I can not tell you much about this future, the future of Multiverse in DC, but I can tell you that I’m very excited about it as a filmmaker popping this acorn and opening the window to new adventures in Multiverse is great. exciting.” The lightning said director Andy Muschietti during a conference appearance last year. “Multiverse has been a thing in the comic book world for decades, and decades, and decades, and I think this is the time to look at it. [the movies]. It is also very special that our Multiverse is not just a Multiverse of characters, it is a Multiverse of movies. “It’s a cinematic Multiverse, as you may already know by the names that appear as Michael Keaton reprises his role as Batman, it’s very exciting and one of the reasons I’m getting closer to this project.”
Previous attempts have been made to make Cage Superman a reality through the DC universe, especially with the CW Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover in 2019 and 2020.
“We made contact with Nic Cage,” producer and co-writer Guggenheim revealed in an interview with Indiewire. “We approached a lot of people and there were people who did not want to do it. There were people who did it only for money we could never afford. And there were others who really wanted to do it, but I could not plan. That happened to me. Many, I must say, movie stars we’ve been in contact with. The thing about movie stars is that they all make movies. And unless these movies are made in Vancouver, we’re a little lucky. “The number of actors we ended up with exceeded my expectations.”
