After the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), it is now the turn of a Muslim religious council to oppose the upcoming Bollywood film Pathan. The Ulema Council of Madhya Pradesh accused the film of hurting the religious sentiments of not only the Pathans but the entire Muslim community.

Now Muslim Board Accuses Pathaan of Hurting Religious Sentiments, Ulema Board MP Threatens to Stop Film’s Release

Chairman Ulema Parliamentary Council Syed Anas told news agency ANI, “Pathans are one of the most respected Muslim communities. Not only the Pathans but the entire Muslim community is maligned in this film. The name of the movie is Pathan and women are seen performing obscene dances in it. Pathans are wrongly portrayed in the film.”

Adding on their next step, he added, “Manufacturers should remove the name, Pathan. Shah Rukh Khan should change his character’s name. After that, do whatever you want. But we will not allow this movie to release in India. We will fight a legal battle and also lodge an FIR. The sentiments of the Muslim community have been hurt by this film. We will not allow this film to be released, not only in Madhya Pradesh but in the entire country.”

Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films, Pathan is scheduled for release on January 25, 2023.
