Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathan expected to earn around 50 crores at the box office on its first day (yesterday). The film has managed to pull huge crowds to the cinema halls in such a way that it is expected to break the record of the highest opening for a Bollywood film.

But amidst such scenes, some organizations of the Right made some protests against Pathan in parts of Madhya Pradesh yesterday, NDTV reported. The film came under fire for the saffron bikini worn by Deepika Padukone in the song “Besharam Rang” as this color is considered sacred by Hindus.

But state home minister Narottam Mishra said there was no point in protesting now as “corrections” have been made to the film by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification).

Speaking to a group of reporters, he said, “I think all the corrections have been made in it (film). The Board of Censorship made corrections. Controversial words have been removed. So, I see no point in protesting now.” He also said that those still protesting the film would be “counseled”, the same NDTV report added.

Mishra, who is a BJP member, was one of the first people to raise objections Pathan last month for the color of the bikini in said song. He had said then, “The clothes worn (by Deepika Padukone) in the song are unacceptable. It is obvious that this song has been illustrated by infected minds. Anyway, Deepika ji was a supporter of ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang. attended the JNU protests. So I would like to request (the makers) to fix the visuals and the clothes (in the song), otherwise we will have to think about allowing the film to be released in Madhya Pradesh.”

Apart from the CBFC ordering the cuts to the song, earlier this month Prime Minister Narendra Modi also told his workers and party members to refrain from making “unnecessary comments about films”.
