Director SS Rajamouli made his late night debut in the US ahead of his Golden Globes 2023 win. The night made a mark in entertainment history when an Indian song, “Naatu Naatu’ won the Best Original Score category directed by SS Rajamouli RRR. But before the win, the director spoke to Seth Meyers and the praise the film is receiving in the West.
RRR director SS Rajamouli tells Seth Meyers how fans are celebrating his film’s release: “They’ll be tearing up newspapers all night, making huge bags of confetti and coming to the theater.”
In his first appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the host asked Rajamouli, “How is one of your films doing on an opening weekend in India?” Answering the question, RRR The director said: “Fans will be tearing up newspapers all night, making huge bags of confetti and coming to the theatre.”
He further said, “The moment the actor’s name appears or the actors come or expect their favorite star to come on screen, all the confetti will be thrown in the air.”
Rajamouli added, “You won’t see the film and they will be laughing and shouting so loudly that you can’t hear the sound. He even said that “the projector operator, who shouldn’t be messing with the sound, will increase the DB of the sound, but you still can’t hear anything.”
Seth Meyers also went on to praise the film, RRR. He said his face hurt, “because without knowing it, I was just grinning from ear to ear because I had never seen anything like this movie.”
RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been shortlisted for Best Original Song for the Academy Awards 2023. His team RRR is in Los Angeles for the Oscar campaign. They recently hosted a special screening for Academy members.
