Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to join Margot Robbie Ocean’s Eleven reboot for Warner Bros. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
New of the ocean The film will be directed by Jay Roach, while Robbie will produce with Tom Ackerley and Michelle Graham. Details of Carrie Solomon’s script are being kept under wraps, but it is known to be original Ocean’s Eleven story set in 1960s Europe. Elf was the first to mention Gosling’s interest in the film.
Executive produced by LuckyChap’s Gary Ross, Olivia Milch and Josey McNamara. Village Roadshow is also involved as an executive producer and may also co-finance.
The project is in active development and has not been greenlit, but a spring 2023 production is the hope. Gosling is also working with Warners on the live action Barbie with Robbie.
He next stars alongside Emily Blunt in director David Leitch’s action-stuntman drama The type of autumn for Universal.
Warner’s of the ocean The franchise was launched in 2001 when Steven Soderbergh directed a fast and slick A-list heist comedy starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and more. What started as a riff and loose remake of the 1960 movie Rat Pack turned into an unexpected franchise. After the first film grossed over $450 million worldwide at the box office, Soderbergh and company made two more star-studded installments, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. The franchise returned in 2018 with Ocean’s 8a female-led spinoff starring Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter and Rihanna.
