Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently enjoying the success of his latest release. Gangubai Kathiawadi. He has previously directed hits such as Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela and Padmaavat, among others. However, the director calls himself “a much lower than average man” who succeeded due to divine intervention.
In a recent interview with the Times of India, Bansali he said that what he has achieved in his life is due to the blessings of his mother and his late father. He believes that he is “protected” and “guided” by something that makes him successful. “How will I end up making Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat and Ramleela, if not without a certain amount of spiritual guidance or parental blessings or parental prayers,” he said.

The director also feels that people may forget him after 50 years, but his work will forever remain in their memory.
Known for films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Black, Guzaarish, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat and others, Bhansali returned to the big screen after four years with Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film revolves around Gangubai, played by Alia Bhatt, who is forced into prostitution and becomes the owner of a brothel in Kamathipua, the area with the red lights of Mumbai.
Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta has been praised The depiction of Gangubai by Alia Bhatt. Calling the film a “spectacle”, she wrote in her review, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest is a kind of old-fashioned film with heavy dialogues, with emotions in the sleeve that Bollywood forgets how to do.”
The Gangubai Kathiawadi has also proven to be a commercial success, having earned more than 100 crore worldwide in one week of release. In its second week, the film will compete with The Batman and Jhund.
