“It is true that I was approached for Heroine, but I could not make the film as the dates clashed with Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s Meghe Dhaka Tara based on the life of Ritwik Ghatak, where I played the lead role. I can not get away from my previous commitments to Tollywood just because I have an offer from Bollywood. There is always a next time. It was enriching to be part of the Kamalesvarda movie and play a Ghatak-based character is not bad. “It’s a milestone in my career,” Saswata told ETimes during a recent chat.
Saswata believes that an actor should write different roles for creative satisfaction. Has he become a little selective now? Well, I’m not worried about the length of my role. what matters to me is the impact. “I will only sign on the dotted line if I feel that my role makes sense,” the actor shares.
Saswata is also grateful to Anjan Dutta. “My career would not have taken this direction if Anjan Dutt had not taken me to ‘Bong Connection’ years ago. “After that I started taking on carnal roles.”
Saswata’s next Bollywood release is Anurag Kashyap ‘Dobaara’ starring Taapsee Pannu. It also stars Kangana Ranaut “Dhakaad”.
