“Two Sisters And A Husband” is described as “a messy, confusing and dirty story of a family that went wrong.” The film also stars Himanshu Kohli and Ashutosh Pathak.
Shlok, who debuted “Haraamkhor” starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shweta Tripathi, has co-written the film with longtime collaborator and author Shilpa Srivastava.
The Mumbai-based director said it was an honor to participate in a festival “that has celebrated filmmakers whose films we have literally grown up with”.
“This is the best platform our film could ask for. My producer Navin Shetty and I have dreamed of an opportunity like this. I can not thank the developers enough,” Shlok said in a statement.
The film is co-produced by Fundamental Pictures with Navin Shetty.
According to the synopsis on the festival’s official website, “Two Sisters And A Husband” is a “riveting and restrained drama set in the 1990s against the backdrop of the enchanting Himalayan landscape”.
“All the carefree Amrita (Grover) wants is a life with Rajat, played by Dinker, with whom she has a secret affair. Even when Rajat is driven to marry Amrita’s introverted older sister, Tara (Avani) ), the younger brother’s love remains intact.
“But when Amrita gets pregnant by her best brother-in-law, the three are forced to flee to a mountain town, where Rajat becomes the manager of a hotel owned by the last heir of a royal family, Bed Singh (Himansu). “Tara falls into melancholy, while Amrita goes through the date of childbirth, but does not seem ready to give birth”, the summary states.
The Tribeca Film Festival will take place in New York from June 8 to 19.
