Colleen O’Shaughnessey, the long voice of Sonic the Hedgehog’s sidekick Tails, will voice the character in Sonic’s upcoming theatrical sequel. Featuring Ben Schwartz, who voices the hedgehog, and Idris Elba, who was previously announced to shout Knuckles the Echidna. Tails was teased at the end of the first movie – and also in the first teaser for the sequel, which was revealed last February.
I’m taking my old friend Tails for another adventure. I am excited to announce that I am the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower # SonicMovie2! I look forward to seeing him on the big screen.

While not surprisingly, O’Shaughnessey has been calling Tails in the movie since he did it in 2014 (and in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie), many voice actors do not repeat their roles when the video game or animation comes out. on the big screen. For example, Chris Pratt was recently revealed to be Mario’s voice in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie, while Charles Martinet, the man who has had Mario’s voice since the 1990s, will have only a small role. He is talking about a bigger trend casting recognizable personalities in cartoons, instead of vocal actors.
The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie was released on February 14, 2020 – after being delayed due to the massive outcry over Sonic’s design from the first trailer. Despite the first sympathetic reaction to the original trailer, the film did well at the box office and received mostly positive reviews. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be released in theaters on April 8, 2022.
