While we get a lot of Star Wars content on Disney +, with shows like “The Mandalorian”, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “The Book Of Boba Fett”, it’s been years since we last saw a Star Wars movie in theaters and will a few more years pass until we have the next one.
One of the many Star Wars movies currently in development is created by Taika Waititi, who has directed “Thor: Ragnarok” and the upcoming “Thor: Love & Thunder”, in addition to directing an episode of “The Mandalorian “and providing the voices of” IG-11 “in the Disney + series.
Ever since it was announced that Taika Waititi was making a new Star Wars movie, fans have been excited to learn more about the project. Especially since the previously announced film “Rogue Squadron”, which will be directed by Patty Jenkins of “Wonder Woman’s”, has been delayed.
Recently, during an interview with Screen RantTaika Waititi gave a brief update on the film:
That remains to be seen. I do not know. I am still writing. I’m still thinking about ideas and story and I just wanted to make sure it’s like a Star Wars movie.
Why, I could say, “Oh yes, we’re just going to write down any old stuff and put it in space and then put Star Wars in the front.” But it would not be a Star Wars movie without specifics and a specific treatment, so I just have to make sure it stays in this wheelhouse.
Unfortunately, we did not hear anything about any upcoming Star Wars movies at the Star Wars Celebration last month. However, we hope to find out more details soon, although it sounds like these movies are still very much in the early stages of development and are just off the screens.
Looking forward to the return of Star Wars to the big screen?
