If there is anything that could do the live transfer of the Disney classic The little Mermaid more exciting, should be the addition of original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The musical man behind Hamilton and Charm collaborated with The little Mermaidby original composer Alan Menken for an amazing amount of new music in the upcoming release, which will star husky Actress Halle Bailey as Ariel. But when he made the new songs, Miranda found himself reluctant to change an aspect of the Disney classic.
Sebastian – the rope that often serves King Triton while caring for Triton Ariel’s free daughter – is a favorite among Disney animated film fans, and Lynn-Manuel Miranda is no exception. Miranda explained Accelerator because Sebastian’s songs were too sacred for him to touch.
Oh man. So much of my work on The Little Mermaid was this fulfillment of desire. I did not actually write any new songs for Sebastian the Crab because I like his songs so much. I was like, “I can’t. No, not me. I can not do it “. I managed to write about some of the other characters in this movie. Every song you love about the Little Mermaid is still about the Little Mermaid, we just found some new moments to make music. This is really difficult.
No matter how excited the fans are of listening to the new music that Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken bring to the live film, I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief that they are not going to mess with our favorites from the original – especially “Under the Sea”, which also won an Oscar and a Grammy.

Daveed Diggs, who played double roles alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda Hamilton, will play Sebastian in the live metaphor. He stars in an impressive cast of Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hater-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and Awkwafina as Scuttle.
