Netflix brings a viral tweet that has fascinated the Internet on the small screen – a moving Thanksgiving misunderstanding is turned into a movie by the streamer, Variety References.
The film follows the true story of Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton, which went viral on Twitter in 2016 when Arizona grandmother Dench thought she was texting her grandson to check if he was coming to Thanksgiving dinner. . However, he soon discovered that he had the wrong number and had sent a message to Hinton High School – he accepted the invitation anyway and they have been celebrating the holidays together ever since.

The film does not yet have a confirmed director or cast, but the screenplay will be written by Abdul Williams.
“We are excited to share our story with the world,” Dench and Hinton said in a joint statement. “Hopefully it will inspire more people to reach out and make connections they would not normally make. We are so blessed to find a genuine friendship that God brought with us from the wrong text message.”
The couple has been on Twitter every year since 2016 to share their annual reunions, with Hinton’s girlfriend and family now invited.
This is not the first time a tweet has been turned into a feature film – Zola, which was released last year and stars Taylour Paige, Riley Keough and Nicholas Braun, has been based on a viral Twitter thread since 2015.
