A new trailer for The Acolyte has just been released, and there's one detail that makes fans think they might want to give this new Star Wars show a shot.
The Acolyte just received a new trailer — the perfect gift for Star Wars Day. As we wait for the newest show to take place in the George Lucas universe, the trailer has a few more hints at what we can expect.
The more that comes out, the more it becomes clear that we're headed for the fall of the Supreme Republic era, with a “shift” that will tip the balance between the Jedi and the Sith for good. There's also a closer look at the relationship between Lee Jung-jae's Sol and Amandla Stenberg's Mae, as it turns out she was his apprentice before she turned to the dark side.
But there's one thing that really caught the attention of those who've seen the latest trailer for The Acolyte, and it's a small but important element. At the end, we see a mysterious Sith Lord holding a red lightsaber. It's a real tease for what's to come, and could signal a brilliant Star Wars character in the making — especially with that helmet.
The helmet has become a focal point on social media, with many praising the Sith's design and appearance. Indeed, it is quite impressive, with a mask that simulates a wide, toothy smile.
As one user wrote on Reddit: “This Sith mask is terrifying.” Another added: “Can't wait to find out what the Sith Lord's name is. I'm excited for it,” while a third wrote: “I have my reservations about the show, but the sets and costumes are all amazing. That 'Sith' helmet looks incredible.”
On YouTube, the praise continued, with comments saying: “Sith's helmet looks sick, it simulates rows of teeth” and: “This Sith's helmet looks like horror, I love it!”
Although the identity of the mysterious cloaked figure has not been confirmed, it is possible that this could be Darth Plagueis, Palpatine's master. If so, then the Jedi will have a lot to fear, as he is one of the most powerful Sith in the history of the galaxy.
While any new Star Wars project will create division among those who have spent years invested in the franchise, it's clear that this trailer was able to turn some people on the upcoming series.
As a user X he put it: “Much better than the first trailer, I'm actually very interested in what this could be now.”
