Drive-in movies have returned in recent years and Sound View Greenport continues the trend.
The emerging Zoom Cinema Zoom is the latest venture from Kulture Collective, a cultural initiative that has hosted Sound View events such as the Beach Fire lecture series in summer and fall. Designed by hotel owner Erik Warner, The Zoom Zoom is a monthly driver with a curated selection of eclectic movies, starting with Die Hard on Friday, December 17th.
The drive-in will also feature a kiosk with drinks, snacks and small bites from the Halyard restaurant.
“We are excited to invite locals and Greenport visitors to experience the Zoom Zoom this winter and spring season, coming from the comfort of our own cars to enjoy nights of nostalgia filled with timeless movies and delicious Warner food.” .
Warner has selected a selection of films until April.
“Zoom Zoom will include some of my favorite movies of all time, from thrillers to comedies,” he said. “Each evokes a sense of connection to different places and periods, while narrating important life lessons through its characters and story.”
Following Die Hard, The Zoom Zoom will feature Shallow Hal in February for Valentine’s Day, The Big Chill in March and Dazed and Confused in April (April 20, if you’re wondering).
“From stories of love, friendship and adulthood, there is something we can all remove from each of these films,” Warner said.
Tickets are $ 25 per car. The gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m. Visit it Sound View website for tickets.
Sound View Greenport is located at 58775 County Road 48 in Greenport.
