Over time, the trend in Bollywood has shifted its curve to sports drama with many films being directed in the genre. After the huge success of the protagonist of Ranveer Singh, 83, based on the 1983 World Cup, producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri comes up with another film in the same genre. The producer announced a movie for a popular cricket tournament.
The producer took to Twitter to announce that his next venture will be adapted from Boria Majumdar’s book which chronicles a major sporting event entitled Lalit Modi. The film has a title The IPL – Lalit Modi Saga.

Sharing the biographical information, the producer posted a newspaper excerpt on his Instagram stories and wrote: “IPL was released this day 15 years ago.” Vishnu Vardhan Induri shares his views on the upcoming drama and issued a statement to the media. “Winning the 1983 World Cup was just the tip of the iceberg. No one in the world could believe that a few years later, India would rule the cricket world.”
Vishnu announced the project and wrote: “Winning the 83rd World Cup was the tip of the iceberg. The book “Maverick Commissioner” by sports journalist @BoriaMajumdar is a fascinating account of the IPL and the man behind it, Lalit Modi. We are pleased to announce that we are adapting this book into a feature film. @SimonSchusterIN. ”

“Nearly a quarter of a century later came the time for Neil Armstrong’s cricket. The formation of the largest cricket league in the world – the Indian Premier League. Changed the world of cricket forever,” he added.
According to various media, Commissioner Maverick records things exactly as they happened. No barriers and no questions left out. He tells his story. From the controversy over what happened to Monti and other officers from the divisions to his subsequent IPL ban, the adaptation will tell the story of Lalit Monti’s life.
Meanwhile, ’83, directed by Kabir Khan and starring Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Boman Irani, Jiiva, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, among others, premiered on Netflix and Disney + Hostar. The film was released in cinemas on December 24 last year.
