Vivek Agnihotri said Akshay Kumar praising The Kashmir Files was due to his “majboori”. He said the actor praised the film when people asked him about it.
Director Vivek Agnihotri recently did an excavation on Akshay Kumar claiming that the actor valued The Kashmir Files’s film from “majboori”. In a new interview, Vivek said that several people in Bollywood like Akshay praised the film. Vivek said the actor had to praise the film as many people asked him about The Kashmir Files. Both Vivek and Akshay Kumar attended an event in Bhopal where Akshay had praised The Kashmir Files, but also said that Bachchhan Paandey’s film had failed because of it. Earlier, on Twitter, Vivek shared a video in which Akshay said: “Hum sabko desh ki kahaniyan kehni hai, Kuch jaani maani, kuch ankahi, ansuni. Jaise Vivek ji ne Kashmir Files bana kar ek bahut bade dardnaak sach ko saamne rakha hai. Ye film ek aisi wave ban kar aayi jisne hum sabko jhinjhor kar diya hai. Wo aur baat haiki meri image ko bhi duba diya hai. (We all want to tell stories of our country. Some may be famous, others not so much. For example, Vivek made The Kashmir Files which brought a painful truth to the fore and shocked us all. Caused the film to fail is a different matter for me). ” Sharing the video, Vivek wrote, “Thanks @akshaykumar for your appreciation of #TheKashmirFiles.”
During a recent interview with VJ Raunac, it was revealed that Akshay appreciated the film. Vivek replied, “Woh toh majboori mein ab kya bolega aadmi jab 100 log saamne khade hoke sawaal puchenge Kashmir Files. ‘Aapki film nahi chali aur woh chal gayi’ toh kya bolsakte hai; gaya” “100 people asking about The Kashmir Files. When they asked him ‘your movie did not go well and it worked’ then what can he say? I was also attending an event in Bhopal where I had to praise the movie).”
When asked further if he received any appreciation message, Vivek replied, “Peeche koi nahi bolta sab public … Ek aadmi ne mujhe message nahi kiya … Sablog apni film promotion karne jaate haur aur media waalein unse Kashmir Files ke baare mein puch lete hai. Toh unhe majboori mein kuch bolna padhta hai. Par apne mann se kisine kuch nahi bola (Nobody appreciates me personally … Nobody sent me a message. Everyone was promoting their movies and the media would ask about The Kashmir Files “You had to say something out of pressure. But no one said anything of their own free will.”
Vivek’s The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumaar in leading roles. The Kashmir Files is about the departure of the Kashmiri Pandits who lived in the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s. In its opening week, The Kashmir Files gathered ₹110 crore while at the same time Bachchhan Paandey did a business ₹46 crore.
