Ajay Devgn had announced with great enthusiasm that he would play the eponymous role of Chanakya, the respected politician and one of the sharpest brains in all of Indian history, in a film directed by one of India’s best directors, Neeraj Pandey. (Baby, Special 26, A Wednesday, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story), back in 2018. Ajay Devgn, speaking on his official Twitter message, wrote: “I look forward to playing #Chanakya, a movie about one of the greatest Indian History thinkers, directed by @neerajpofficial. @RelianceEnt @FFW_Official @PlanC_Studios @ShitalBhatiaFFW. However, not much has been known about the project since then. In an exclusive video interview with BollywoodLife, Chanakya director Neeraj Pandey himself revealed when the film will be released and when we can expect it to be released in line with Ajay Devgn’s other works. “We will go to the floors of time (with Chanakya),” said Neeraj Pandey. After further investigation into whether many other works by Ajay Devgn could be released before Chanakya, the director added: “Yes, yes, of course … like many films, even his performance (Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, the Ajay’s first online series, An official remake of the hugely popular and acclaimed British TV show, Luther, starring Idris Elba) could precede it.
