Netflix

It’s official. The new movie The mother from the real mother Jenifer Lopez about being a mother, released on Mother’s Day, is a smash hit. The new film, which premiered on Netflix, attracted nearly 3 million viewers.

According to viewership data shared by Deadline, at least 2.8 million households began watching the film. It was also a big hit with non-white households, according to the data. 33% of households that watched the film were black and 25% were from Hispanic households.

The film beat out two other popular films on the service: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mysteryand Murder mystery 2. However, the biggest mystery may be where it will land on the Netflix charts, which aren’t out yet (that’ll happen tomorrow). There’s also a caveat: Samba ratings don’t include mobile viewing.

Those expecting a fun Hallmark movie about the importance of parenting and motherhood were treated to something very different, a bloody revenge thriller. Lopez plays a former special forces sniper who tipped off the FBI about some bad guys.

The reviews aren’t great. The film sits at a paltry 46% on Rotten Tomatoes, and while some are praising Lopez’s performance, they’re bashing the film itself. Variety he said The mother it’s “watchable product, but Lopez proves she can carry a photo like this with gusto.” Hmm. “Trackability”. That’s a nice way of saying boring, I think.

The review also called it a “dirty, cruelly distorted, run-now-and-ask-questions-later B-movie”.

Brian Lowry of CNN said the film is like a Frankenstein that is “assembled from genre clichés”. Yes. However, The mother streaming on Netflix.
