TAMPA – As the Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival enters its 33rd year, the region’s largest annual independent film exhibition is doing so with a new executive director.
Victor Gimenez was appointed to the post on Monday.
He replaces Scott Skyberg, who resigned to grow his CPA business.
“The Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is at a major crossroads to become a more vibrant part of Tampa / St. “The Pete LGBTQ + community is not only a boulevard where great movies will be shown, but also allowing the community to come together to discuss these movies, learn more about each other and create meaningful dialogue,” Gimenez said in a ready-made statement issued for the festival website.
According to the website, “apart from the annual festival, which takes place in October, it will oversee newer programs such as the Trans Film Festival in November and the BIPOC Festival in June.”
BIPOC is an acronym for Blacks, Indigenous and Colored.
Prior to that, Gimenez was executive director of the OUTShine LGBTQ + Festival in Miami and Fort Lauderdale for six years, during which time he increased his cash reserves by more than 200 percent and created a monthly free LGBT + movie screening program. , according to the website.
