Speaking about the evolution of the horror genre in Bollywood and how “Chhorii” is a truly blue horror film, he says: “In recent years we have seen a lot more horror comedies, but we still haven’t. many scary movies in India. So when I was approached for this film, the first question that came to my mind was whether it was another scary comedy or a seriously scary movie. ”
According to his own admission, Saurabh was relieved when he was told that “Chhorii” was not a horror comedy. He shares, “When I watch a horror movie, I want to be scared. “So I was excited to learn that I was going to be part of a serious horror movie.”
Since most of the film takes place in a house surrounded by a maze of cane fields, the portion shooting was really scary. Saurabh says, “One night, I had a break for a few hours and thought about going back to base to relax for a while. It was dark and I got lost in the maze. I was not carrying my cell phone and did not know if it would be helpful to call for help. Fortunately, a light came on some distance away, so I hurried towards him. You need a lot of silence and seriousness when making a horror movie. “Even though I was lost for just 10 minutes, in such a state and atmosphere, even a minute seems like eternity”.
In addition, working on “Chhorii” also gave him the opportunity to work with actors such as Mita and Nushratt. “I grew up watching Mitaji performances. “She is a wonderful actress and I learned a lot just by talking to her during the filming of this movie,” says Saurabh, adding: “Nushratt has no stars. Whether I had to discuss a scene with her or rehearse, she was always welcoming and never stopped.
