Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar has revealed that actors Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif contacted her wanting to make a film together after Priyanka Chopra called them. In a new interview, Zoya said they did not know that her brother, actor-director Farhan Akhtar, had also come up with the idea of wanting to make a film exclusively for girls.
Farhan Akhtar, earlier this year, had announced Jee Le Zaraa with Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra. The exclusively female film road trip is based on three actors. The film will be released in theaters in 2022.
In an interview with Film Companion, Zoya Akhtar said: “The only reason you can do it now is that all the players involved wanted to do it. Even 10 years ago there were three great female stars, filmmakers, Producers who would say “Let’s do this” could happen. I think it’s alignment. I think it’s intent first. They are huge, three of them, they are amazing and they are huge. “There are no separate personalities. There is no one like the other.”
Then he said, “Farhan had an idea that he had jumped in, saying ‘I want to do this with girls.’ He had thought about it and he wanted to do it. He had told me a line. (Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif) who did not know that Farhan said, “We want to work together” because Priyanka called them, just lined up. the same players “.
Earlier this year, Priyanka shared an Instagram post saying: “Let’s go back, I think I want to make another Hindi movie as soon as possible, on an unusually rainy night in Mumbai in November 2019. But it had to be right – different, nice, it had never happened before… I thought. The idea evolved into a film with an exclusively female cast. There are not enough Hindi films that have women with many protagonists. “an idea that included 3 friends on the screen. We called it a friendship party !!”
He added, “Katrina, Alia and I met enthusiastically in February 2020 (as seen in this picture), just before the world closed, to discuss who we could trust to bring this vision to life for us and our choice was unanimous Far Farhan and Ritesh, Zoya and Reema. We had all worked with @excelmovies and @tigerbabyfilms separately, so that seemed perfect. Farhan happened to be working on a female road trip movie at the same time! Talk about all the stars that are aligned !! “
“And here we are today … #JeeLeZaraa … it only took 3 years to align all our plans, but we stayed together and we did it! On the road with Aloo and Katty. My heart smiles. We say goodbye to the movies “, Concluded her post.
