New Delhi: In a good victory for the Delhi police, two men involved in kidnappings and robberies on high-quality racing bikes were arrested during a search in northern Delhi. Police also managed to retrieve a firearm from their possession.
The defendants, identified as Arjun (25) and Bharat (22), were living in a rented room in the Kashmere Bagh area of Shastri Nagar. They reportedly stayed away from their family to avoid arrest, police said.
Police arrested the duo during a routine vehicle check near the Old Delhi train station. Around 06:15 pm, police saw two men on a scooter and when the duo encountered a police barricade, they tried to turn around but were arrested.
During the interrogation, the defendants revealed that they were inspired by the Bollywood Dhoom movie and thus resorted to robbery, according to the news agency. PTI. They even informed the police that they participated in robberies and kidnappings in areas of the north, northwest, central and outer areas using their own racing motorcycles.
Further investigation into the matter revealed that Arjun had been involved in 7 and Bharat in 9 crimes. Police, meanwhile, found a provincial pistol, two cartridges, 10 expensive mobile phones and two racing motorcycles, which were used to commit the crime and drive him away.
